I grew up eating white corn bread and most places sell only yellow corn meal. I like country style corn bread with a bit of a gritty texture, which means a courser grind. So many corn meals today are ground as fine as flour and if it is in a mix they add sugar an flour to the mix. If I wanted cake, I would have bought cake mix. This is the real deal for making country corn bread. Make it with buttermilk for that real southern cornbread taste. For a treat, that is an acquired taste, get you a tall glass (jelly jars work fine too) and crumble up some leftover cornbread into the glass. Pour buttermilk over the top and eat with a spoon out of the glass. Drink the leftover buttermilk from the glass and you have the perfect bedtime snack. I first bought corn meal from the Old Mill in the 1970's and whenever we would drive thru we would stop and buy more. We recently stopped for dinner in the Old Mill restaurant and I bought some corn meal to take home and wow was it good. I discovered their mail order and ordered more when that ran out.
