I would have gave a....5 B...U...T... we came back on 12-31 through 1-2-22. The Old Mill candy store was one of the 1st places I HAD TO GET TO to get to their caramellows!!! MmmMmmmm but we get there, and I'm looking and don't see any out and I'm getting some fresh Chewy Praline Fudge........and what an absolute disappointment. When my best friend and I was there Dec 10th-12th the young girls asking what fudge you want is extremely rude, non personable, no smile, no hello, no nothing but when I ordered online when I got back home I called the actual store and spoke to a very nice lady. This was a grown woman and not one of the starky young girls that throw your fudge in your box. She was very sweet and I ordered caramellows and I knew why they didn't have them on their online site to purchase online because they are very sticky. But I ordered them anyways and shipping was very quick. Almost next day quick. I got the gifts I ordered for family for Christmas but the caramellows were a bust. My fault not theirs at all cause I KNEW that would happen I just didn't think they would be in a ball.
So my husband and our 2 boys were there Dec 31st. We go in and I'm looking for my caramellows and I get in the fudge line and I tell the girl what fudge I want and it seems to be a bother if you want to look at the different kinds but I knew I wanted the "fresh" chewy praline fudge, she threw 3 bars in my box and said "next" and I told her I wasn't finished that I wanted to get some caramellows...I asked for some because I didn't see any out and this rude young girl responded "were out" with a hateful straight face, no I'm sorrys no concern no nothing. Just simply waiting on her paycheck that she forgets that the CUSTOMER pays. I asked when there would be fresh ones coming out and all I got "not anytime soon and I don't know when" so I told my husband "that's all were getting and let's get the h*ll outta here". I've always ALWAYS praised The Ole Mill candy store and their products but the fudge we got was very hard, all 3 bars were hard as a rock on all 4 sides. I mean it's to late now, we done bought the crap where most places don't do returns there and to be honest we were afraid to call and ask so we went on home with our old stale "Fresh Chewy Praline Fudge" but people that's reading this review let me tell you about a place called "The Chocolate Monkey", there's a few there but this place is closer to the Gatlinburg end going out of pigeon forge on the right. I seen a Huge Caramellow and I asked about it saying how I was addicted to The Old Mills caramellows.....she said just try one and you will see...so we got just 1 and a few fresh bear claws and fresh fudge since what we got at the Mill was Old. That evening I was mad at myself for only getting 1 of their caramellows. We went back the next day 3 (THREE) different times and bought something different plus more. There was 2 boys with us and they demanded the chocolate monkey. So on our way out of town back home, and we're only a few hours out, we stopped by that same Chocolate Monkey twice, they got milkshakes and we made sure to get plenty of their FRESH Caramellows because they actually made them just for me! They actually cared enough about a customer that they made sure to fill my order and I ordered 12 to go home. To put into perservative 12 of the Chocolate Money's caramellows are about 5 times bigger and BETTER than the ole Mill. The ole mills are the size of a regular marshmallow dipped in Carmel then dipped in chocolate. Well The Chocolate Monkeys is about 1 1/2 times bigger than those huge marshmallows you buy in the store and heavily dipped in Caramel and then chocolate. They cost a little more as the ole Mill is $1.19 each and the size of just a regular size marshmallow versus one 5 times bigger, covered in caramel and then chocolate and to top that off....they are salted!!! And that my friend is my review if The ole Mill candy. The attitudes with the up front employees, your hard Old fudge we got and the not give a dang attitudes from your employees yall lost 3 adult paying customers, The Chocolate Monkey however gained them plus some.
The Old Mill has a good selection of a very tasty fudge. It was fresh and hard to resist.
Purchased a box of random flavors in vacation in summer 2020.
Thos was everyone's favorite!
Really good
We visited Pigeon Forge 12 years ago and tried the fudge for the 1st time. Every year for Christmas I get some for my husband. Still the best fudge he has ever had.
